Apart from the preparation for this film, the actress talked about her success and struggle and said that there should be a holiday in Bollywood at least on Saturday and Sunday. She said that in the last two years she did back to back films, due to which she could not attend many family functions.

How did you feel when you were told that for the film ‘Mrs. New York Indian Film Festival 2024 for Best Actress Award Have you been selected?

I could not go there for the screening of the film. I was thinking how people would have liked the film. I had not even thought about the award. When I was told about the award, it was a very surprising moment for me. I first shared this with my family. This increases self-confidence.

What did you find so special about the character of ‘Mrs.’

I am playing the role of Richa in this film. This is a very challenging role. This film gives a very strong message. There was a universal feeling during the shooting of the film. People ignore the work of women who cook and clean the house. Many people do not even consider it as work. Cooking is a skill, men should also know it.

What is the similarity between the character Richa of the film and you?

Like Richa, I too love dancing. My desire to dance onscreen is going to be fulfilled with this film. Like Richa, I too am very ambitious. The only difference is that Richa is married and I am not married.

This is a remake of the Malayalam film 'The Great Indian Kitchen', how much has it been adopted as per the Hindi belt audience?

I won't be able to know about this properly until the trailer of the film comes out, This is a story that needs to be told in every language. Many people will be able to relate to the story of this film. I think that after watching the trailer of the film, people will be able to understand how it has been adopted.

What was the biggest challenge while shooting this film?

It has been a bit of a challenge emotionally. Anyway, as an actor, I keep looking for challenges. Because working where there is no challenge is not fun. While acting, I forget what is going on in my life. When I think about my character and the character's journey, it is a very good experience.

Any special memories from the shooting time that you would like to share?

Working with the film's director Aarti Kadav has been the most memorable moment. When people watch this film, they will understand how beautifully she has adapted and made the film. I never talk about my work because I am not happy with my work. After watching this film, I can say that for the first time in my seven-year career, I am happy with my character in this film.

What has been your process for selecting films, from ‘Dangal’ to ‘Mrs.’?

There is no special process. When I read the script, I know that I am imaging myself in that world. If I feel in a dilemma whether to do it or not, then I don't do that project. I always listen to my heart.

How do you balance professional and personal life in your busy schedule, how do you find time for your family and parents?

More than work, the most important thing for me is to take out time for family and parents. I did back to back films in the last two years, due to which I could not attend many family functions. My parents live in Delhi, I think of taking out some time and going to meet them. When I am with my family, the tiredness also goes away. Rest is also very important. During that time, you should also learn some new things which will be useful in your life.

What has been the biggest success and struggle of your career so far?

The appreciation that I get from the audience is the biggest success for me. The audience has loved me a lot. We always try to entertain the audience with the films we do. There has been no struggle in my life; there has been a lot of running around. In 21-22, my life was very busy. I am grateful that I was doing back to back films. I was shooting for 'Jawan' in Chennai and 'Sam Bahadur' in Delhi at the same time. The schedule was so hectic that I didn't get time to sleep. Saturdays and Sundays should be holidays in Bollywood, but here we work even on Sundays.

From the first film till now, the physical transformation has looked very dangerous?

Of course, I had a very muscular body in 'Dangal'. After that I did 'Photograph' and I had to lose weight for that. I lost more weight for 'Badhaai Ho'. I had to gain 15 kilos for 'Pataakha'. That period was very difficult for me. It took more than a year to lose that weight. Whether the director says it or not, I train myself for every role. Acting is also done through the body.

What are your upcoming projects?

I am doing a film 'Sunny Sanskrit Ki Tulsi Kumari' with Varun Dhawan. I have not played such a character in any film till now. I am enjoying it a lot. I am very excited about this film. I am grateful to director Shashank Khaitan for thinking of me for such a character. I am doing a film with Anurag Kashyap. Whenever I go to the set of the film, it feels like something good is happening.
