Somi Ali has told that the love story of Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai started on the sets of the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Earlier, Salman was in a relationship with Somi. However, when Somi got the news of his linkup with Aishwarya, she thought it right to break up with the actor.

In an interview to Zoom TV, Somi said, 'The shooting of the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was going on. One day when I called Salman, he did not receive the call. Then I called the director of the film Sanjay Leela Bhansali and he said- Salman cannot talk to you right now because he is busy in a shot.

I felt very awkward hearing this. I said to him- If he is giving the shot, then why are you not directing? Why are you picking up my phone?'

Somi used to live with Salman in Galaxy Apartment

Somi further said, 'Later Aishwarya started coming to Salman's gym, where Salman and I used to stay together. I used to live with Salman on the ground floor of Galaxy Apartment, where we also had a gym.'

Somi also revealed that Aishwarya and Salman fell in love on the sets of the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. She said, 'I was getting information about this from the servants inside, who favoured me. I knew in my heart that their relationship was something that was going to flourish. I knew it was time for me to leave.'

Salman and Aishwarya broke up in 2001

Even before Somi's statement, it was mentioned in media reports that Salman and Aishwarya grew close to each other on the sets of the film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Their onscreen chemistry in the film was well-liked. However, this relationship did not last long and both decided to separate in 2001.

After separating from Salman, Aishwarya married Abhishek Bachchan on 20 April 2007.
