Rohit Shetty started his journey as a host of 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' in the year 2004. It has been 10 years since he has been associated with this reality show. According to the filmmaker, initially he was afraid whether the audience would accept him as a host or not. In fact, before Rohit, Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar (Season 1, 2 and 4) and Priyanka Chopra (Season 3) had hosted the show.
Apart from the show, these days Rohit Shetty is also in the news for his film 'Singham Again'. Apart from Ajay Devgan, actors like Kareena Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Jackie Shroff and Arjun Kapoor will be seen in the film.
During an exclusive conversation with Dainik Bhaskar, Rohit Shetty shared some interesting things related to his film and reality show. Read some key excerpts from the conversation:
I was afraid whether the audience would accept me as the host of the show after Akshay and Priyanka?
It has been 10 years since I have been hosting 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'. I consider myself lucky that people have given me so much love. Before me, actors like Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra had done this show. I am a director and they are stars.
That's why I used to question myself whether the audience would accept me as the host of such a big show? But with time this fear went away. It wasn't easy. I will always be grateful to the audience for giving me so much love.
70 to 80 stunts are performed in a season
Every time the pressure to do something different in the show is more on the team than on me. This is a very challenging task for the show's team. Its preparation begins 8 months before the shooting begins. The audience may not even know that we do at least 70 to 80 stunts in a season.
Each stunt requires a different location. So in total we shoot at 70 to 80 locations. We travel every day. It is very challenging for the technical team. I hope our hard work will pay off.
'Singham Again' has been shot keeping in mind the expectations of the audience
'Singham Again' is a very big franchise. Obviously people will have a lot of expectations from this film. We have not ignored this at all. Even every day we used to shoot keeping the expectations of the audience in mind. Believe me, the whole team has worked very hard. When the film is released, the audience will definitely like it.
Working with big stars was not a challenge
For any other filmmaker, working with big stars can be a challenge. But, it was a little easier for me. Actually, this is a cop universe film in which 3-4 actors have worked before. We are carrying forward the old story of the film.
Yes, I am very thankful to the new actors who joined the film. When I told them about their characters, everyone immediately agreed. The work was done like a family. It was a very good job.
There is no intention to work on a new concept right now
I have no intention of working on any new concept other than my franchise films. I am quite satisfied with the space I am working in right now. Be it 'Singham' or 'Golmaal', I will continue working on these films in the future as well.
Despite ill health, he participated in the promotional campaign of KKK-14
Despite being unwell, I am a part of the promotional campaign of KKK-14. I had made a commitment to the channel. By the way, if I have made a commitment for something, then I complete it no matter what. This is my job.
