Rishi Kapoor had revealed in his memoir, Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored, that when he was shooting in Pahalgam, Yash Chopra had organized a party for him on his birthday. At this time his wife Neetu and his co-actor Naseem were also present. That day he had completed the shooting of a song. The party guests were having fun inside the hotel and were completely unaware of what was happening outside.
In fact, the debate between horse owners and taxi drivers had taken a terrible turn. A driver got drunk and started fighting. Within no time the situation became very bad. A crowd of thousands of people started throwing stones and fireballs at the hotel, creating chaos.

Rishi Kapoor had further told that when the situation worsened, he and others were sent to their rooms. They were told to hide under their beds because no one knew how this would happen.
