Richa Chadha will be seen in the role of 'Lajjo' in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's series Heeramandi – The Diamond Bazaar. During an interview, Richa told that she had taken inspiration from late actress Meena Kumari to work on her character. Actually, Meena Kumari played the role of Shahibjaan in the film Pakeezah. This character is similar to Hiramandi's character Lajjo. Richa was advised to watch Meena Kumari by Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself.

Richa Chadha said – Before shooting for Heeramandi, watching Meena Kumari ji's character in 'Pakeezah' carefully, learning and taking lessons from it proved to be very helpful for me.

Describing the similarity between the two characters, Richa said – The sadness and depth in the character of Meena Kumari in the film Pakeezah matches that of my character Lajjo. After watching Meena ji's work, I worked on her voice and diction.

Sometimes I felt as if I was following the footsteps of a legendary actress. He said that it is an honor to pay tribute to Meena Kumari ji with the character of Lajjo.
