Research on 'Covaxin' side effects wrong: 'ICMR'

New Delhi; News Agency: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) released a research paper on the alleged side effects of Bharat Biotech's 'Covaxin' vaccine after the AstraZeneca company acknowledged the side effects of the Corona vaccine in exceptional circumstances in a London court. Interestingly, 'ICMR' (Indian Institute of Medical Research) was also quoted from this research paper. Now 'ICMR' itself has claimed that this research of 'BHU' is false and has also issued a notice to 'BHU'.

The overall tone of this research paper of 'BHU' was that 'Covaxin' also has side effects. In order to make the truth of their conclusion clear, the researchers of 'BHU' had highlighted that 'ICMR' also confirms it. Now 'ICMR' has reacted to it and explained that it is a blatant lie of 'BHU'.

ICMR Director General Dr. Rajeev Bahl has issued a legal notice to 'BHU'. The notice said that the claim of 'BHU's research that serious side effects were observed in vaccinated people is totally misleading and based on wrong facts. ICMR has not provided any technical or financial assistance to BHU for this research, it has also said. The notice has demanded that the name of 'ICMR' be removed from this research paper and a public apology should be made.

One-third of the participants in the research conducted at BHU had side effects from Covaxin. These side effects include respiratory infections, blood clotting and skin related diseases. The research also claimed that those with allergies or typhoid were at greater risk of side effects from Covaxin.
