Now the ownership of the company will be with Reliance. However, amidst these news, Karan Johar has now put an end to the rumors by changing the bio of Dharma Productions.
It is written in the bio of Karan's Dharma Production, Jigra O, Ab Ki Teri Baari O. Owner Karan Johar and CEO Apoorva Mehta.
90.7 percent shares of Dharma Production are in the name of Karan Johar, while 9.24 percent are with his mother Hiroo Johar.
According to a recent E-Times report, Karan Johar is looking for strategic partners in view of the poor box office collection of the last few films and the increasing trend of OTT. There have also been reports that Karan Johar's deals were going on with other companies as well, however, due to the valuation issue, the deal could not be finalized.
Let us tell you that Reliance has a strong hold in the entertainment industry. OTT platform Jio Cinema and production house Jio Studio are part of Reliance Industries. Apart from this, Reliance also has stakes in Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms.
Recently, the film Stree 2, made in the co-production of Jio Studio, was in the news. Made with a budget of Rs 50-120 crore, this film has made a box office collection of Rs 873 crore. Talking about Dharma Production, its recent release is Jigra. Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina starrer this film is released in theaters on October 11. Made with a budget of Rs 90 crore, this film has collected Rs 25 crore.
