New Delhi, Leading News Service: The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered to cancel the grace marks of 1563 students who got grace marks in the result of 'NEET' examination and re-examination of these students on June 23. However, the Supreme Court refused to grant any stay on the counseling of students for admission to medical courses starting from July 6. The Supreme Court has also given these students the option of accepting the canceled mark sheet or re-examination.
Three different petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the alleged paper tear and confusion in the results of the NEET examination. These petitions have demanded that the entire matter should be investigated by the SIT and the counseling of students for admission to medical courses should be stopped. The hearing is going on before the bench of Justice Vikramanath and Justice Sandeep Mehta.
Arguing during this hearing, National Testing Agency (NTA) counsel Naresh Kaushik informed the court that 1,563 students who got grace marks will be re-examined on June 23 and the result of this examination will be declared before June 30. He said that the re-examination will not have any impact on the counseling which will start from July 6 for admission.
The minister says, the paper did not burst
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has dismissed the allegations in this regard saying that there is no evidence of paper splitting in the NEET examination. He said that NTA is a reliable organization in the country and the allegations of malpractice leveled against this organization are baseless. He welcomed the decision given by the Supreme Court in this matter.
