- Malayalam Actor Nivin Pauly Booked For Rape; Actor Pans Allegations, Calls It 'entirely Untrue'

Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly has been accused of sexual harassment on Tuesday, just a few days after the Hema Committee report was released. A 40-year-old woman has filed a complaint against 6 people including Nivin at the Onnukal police station in Ernakulam, Kerala.
The accused also include a woman named Shreya. Apart from this, the names of producer AK Sunil, Binu, Basheer, Kuttan and Nivin Pauly are also included. Nivin is the sixth accused in the case.
The victim has alleged that the actor raped her in Dubai. Actor Nivin has called these allegations completely baseless and false.
The woman said- the incident is of November 2023
According to media reports, the complainant woman came in contact with the accused Shreya for the first time. Shreya had offered the woman a job as a caregiver in Europe. When the woman did not take up the job, Shreya asked for her money back. A few days later, the accused Shreya offered the woman a film. During this time, she was given drugs and then sexually abused. The woman says that the six accused have done something or the other to her on different occasions. All these cases took place in Dubai in November 2023.
The actor said- will file a defamation case against the complainant
Actor Nivin has issued a statement on the social media platform X regarding the matter. He said that I have come to know about a false news about me, in which I have been accused of exploitation. I want to tell you that this is absolutely false. I am going to try my best to prove these allegations baseless.
After this, Nivin held a press conference and said that he will take legal action in this matter and file a defamation case against the complainant.
Actor Nivin tweeted about the matter on Tuesday at 8:17 pm.
Actor Siddiqui also accused of rape, has won state film award
A Malayalam actress accused actor Siddique of rape. After this, Siddique resigned from the post of General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists. Siddique, who has worked in 300 Malayalam films, has been awarded the Kerala State Film Award for the film Sasaneham Sumithra.
On the other hand, another actress has accused Ranjit, who directed award winning films like Nandanam, of misbehavior. After this, she has resigned from the post of head of Kerala Chitrakala Academy. According to the actress, Ranjit misbehaved with her during the making of the film Paleri Manikyam.

Hema Committee report came on 19 August, AMMA was dissolved on 27 August
The Hema Committee submitted its report to the Kerala government in 2019. It was published on August 19 this year.
For the past several years, the Malayalam film industry has been facing allegations of sexual harassment of female actors. In 2017, a Malayalam actress accused 7 people including actor Dileep of sexual harassment. Malayalam superstar Dileep was also arrested in this case.
After this, CM Pinarayi Vijayan formed the Hema Committee under the chairmanship of a former judge of the Kerala High Court to investigate the status of women in the film industry. This 233-page report was submitted to the government in December 2019, in which it came to light that many big artists were exploiting women.
The government made this report public after five years on August 19, 2024. In the report, AMMA members were also accused of sexual abuse. After this, on 27 August 2024, 17 members including AMMA President and South Superstar Mohanlal resigned from their posts. Also, the Malayalam Movie Artists Association (AMMA) was dissolved on 27 August.
National Women's Commission sought the full report of Hema Committee
On August 31, the National Commission for Women (NCW) issued a press release informing that the Commission has taken necessary steps to obtain the full Hema Committee report. The Commission also said that considering the seriousness of the matter, it will discuss with the concerned officials and take appropriate steps for women's safety.
