Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has filed a police complaint against his deepfake video. Ranveer's official spokesperson has confirmed the filing of the complaint.
Issuing a statement, the spokesperson said, 'Yes, we have lodged a complaint with the police and an FIR has been registered against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Ranveer Singh.'
Ranveer had warned the fans
Apart from filing the complaint, Ranveer had recently warned his followers on social media and wrote, 'Friends, avoid deepfakes.'
What was in the deepfake video?
In the deepfake video, Ranveer was seen supporting a political party. This video is of Ranveer's recent visit to Varanasi in which he was sharing his experiences related to the city.
In the deepfake video, Ranveer was shown saying – 'Modi ji's aim is to celebrate our miserable lives. Our pain, our unemployment and our inflation. Because we, India, are now moving towards the era of injustice at such a speed, but we should not forget to demand our development and justice. So think and vote.

Aamir's video also went viral
Even before this, a fake video of actor Aamir Khan had also gone viral in which he was seen supporting a political party.
After the video went viral, Aamir reacted to it and said that he does not support any party and this video is fake. The actor had also lodged an FIR in the cyber cell in this matter.
