Leader Online Desk: Uttar Pradesh Police has demoted a senior police officer instead of promotion. The police officer has been demoted from the rank of Deputy Superintendent and posted as a constable in the 26th Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) Battalion in Gorakhpur.
What exactly is the case?
This case pertains to Kanpur and Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. Three years ago, Kripa Shankar Kannaujia was appointed as Mandal Officer in Unnao. Meanwhile, he had an affair with a woman. On July 6, 2021, Circle Officer Kripa Shankar Kannaujia had sought leave from the Superintendent of Police (SP) Unnao due to family reasons. The SP also granted his leave. It is said that Kripa Shankar Kannaujia left for work on leave, but did not reach home. Instead of going home, they stayed at a hotel in Kanpur. His phone was also switched off.
The wife ran to the police
When Kannaujiya did not reach home, his wife became worried. They rushed to the police station and informed the Superintendent of Police of Unnao that Kannaujia had gone missing. Police started searching for him. Unnao police traced the mobile location of CO Kannaujia.
Caught with lady constable in hotel
Kannaujiya's mobile network was last found to be active in a hotel in Kanpur. Police rushed to the hotel; but everyone was shocked to see the situation there. DySP Kannaujia was caught red-handed in a hotel room along with a lady constable.
The Inspector General of Police recommended strict action
Senior officers of Uttar Pradesh Police have taken the incident very seriously. The then Inspector General of Police (IGP) Lucknow had recommended strict action against him. As a result, action has been taken against Kannaujia and he has been demoted. He has now become a constable from the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP). Appointed as Constable in Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) Gorakhpur Battalion.
