Famous filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has recently compared Indian films to Hollywood's big budget films. He lashed out at Bollywood filmmakers and said that the filmmakers here consider the public to be fools. He also compared Oppenheimer to Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer film Thugs of Hindostan.

Recently, in an interview with Galata Plus, Ram Gopal Varma was asked how Hollywood filmmakers make such great movies even at the age of 70-80. Answering this, he said, if you talk about films like Scorsese or Clint Eastwood, then the filmmakers there choose very interesting topics. Their personal attitude is clearly visible in their films.

He further said, first of all we don't make those kind of movies, we think our audience is stupid. The kind of movies that are made in Hollywood are benchmarks. Imagine what our benchmark is. All the people of Hollywood together made Oppenheimer and here all the big stars together made Thugs of Hindostan. Let us tell you that Thugs of Hindostan had big stars like Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, however the movie proved to be a flop at the box office.

Speaking on Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana, he said, such movies are dangerous

In the same interview, Ram Gopal Varma has also talked about mythological films. He has said that earlier such stories used to be popular, but now such films are failing at the box office. Here filmmakers try to make films on mythology, but get stuck in legal troubles. Filmmakers try to show something different, but here it has the opposite effect. This cannot happen in our country because here people worship them.
