Filmmaker Vasu Bhagnani is in the news for stopping payment to his staff. Ali Abbas Zafar, director of his production film Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, has filed a complaint against him for withholding payment of Rs 7 crore 30 lakh. Recently his daughter-in-law Rakul Preet Singh became a part of IIFA Awards. When she was asked about the controversy related to her father-in-law, she left the interview without answering.
Rakul interacted with the media at IIFA Awards 2024. During this, Rakul talked about her upcoming films and told that she is shooting a film. When she was asked about the payment dispute of her father-in-law Vasu Bhagnani, she walked away saying 'sorry' without answering.
Let us tell you that Rakul Preet Singh married actor and producer Jackky Bhagnani on 21 February 2024. There are allegations against the production house Pooja Entertainment of Jackky Bhagnani's father Vasu Bhagnani that the production has withheld the payment of the staff for several months.
Producer Vasu Bhagnani has been in controversies for a long time. Recently, while talking to Dainik Bhaskar, director Ali Abbas Zafar had revealed that Pooja Entertainment founder and famous film producer Vasu Bhagnani has frozen Rs 7.3 crore of film director Ali Abbas Zafar. In his investigation, Bhaskar had found that Ali had also filed a complaint against Vasu in the Directors Association.
Ali had directed the film 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan' under Vasu's banner Pooja Entertainments, for which he has not received the payment yet.
Vasu Bhagnani accused the director of misusing funds
As the controversy escalated, Vasu Bhagnani also accused director Ali of misusing the subsidy funds received from Abu Dhabi authorities during the shooting of the film 'Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan'. Vasu had also gone to lodge a police complaint against Ali in this case but his FIR was not registered.
Vasu started the production company Pooja Entertainment in 1995 in the name of his wife Pooja Bhagnani. His first film as a producer was 'Coolie No. 1'.
Vasu Bhagnani also filed a complaint against Netflix
Recently Vasu Bhagnani has also filed a complaint against OTT platform Netflix. In the complaint, he has alleged that his 3 films have been streamed on the OTT platform, but Netflix has not yet paid Rs 47.37 crore of OTT rights. Vasu Bhagnani's complaint also names Los Gatos Production Service India, which manages Netflix's Indian content. Apart from this, names of 10 executives including Zoo Digital are also included in the complaint.
