Famous TV actor Rajesh Puri has made a big revelation. He said that once he had a narrow escape from being kidnapped. When he came to Delhi to attend an award function, an attempt was made to kidnap him. However, he understood the current situation and somehow saved himself.
Rajesh Puri told in an interview given to ETimes TV how he was invited as the chief guest in an event in Delhi and then an attempt was made to trap him. The actor said that in the beginning of September he received a call from a person named Shivam. That person said that a program is being organized by the government on 8 September in Delhi, in which you have to be invited as the chief guest.
Rajesh Puri said that he was also giving me Rs 35,000. I had asked him for a formal invite, but then I thought that such events keep happening so I did not pay much attention. He said that when he reached Delhi airport to attend the event, two men came to pick him up. They made me sit in a taxi and then after about an hour they shifted my luggage to a new car. That car did not have a number plate and the driver was wearing a mask.
The actor said that when I asked them, they said that this is a new car. But I still did not feel right inside and they started taking me towards Meerut, when I asked them, they did not give any correct answer.
Rajesh Puri further said that now I started to understand that something is definitely wrong, so to make them uncomfortable, I started telling them about my strong connections in Delhi. The actor said that those people took me to a dhaba 12 km away from Meerut. There he talked to one of those people, who told him that he has been kidnapped. There was no event happening and it was all fake.
Rajesh said that when I requested them to drop me somewhere, the kidnappers, after conferring among themselves, left me at the border, from where my brother-in-law came to pick me up.
Rajesh further said that at night he got a call from one of the kidnappers and he told him why he was kidnapped. The kidnapper said that his car was being chased by armed men, and I was being taken to a remote area, where they planned to demand a ransom of Rs 1 or 2 crore. The story he was told was that the person who sent the kidnappers had said that the actor owed him Rs 35 lakh, but later the kidnappers realised that it was a lie.
When Rajesh Puri was asked if he had lodged a complaint with the police, the actor said that his lawyers had advised him not to do so as it might anger the kidnappers.
