Vijayta Pandit, the famous actress of the 70s-80s, was once linked to Kumar Gaurav, son of famous actor Rajendra Kumar. In a recent interview, Vijayta has said that Rajendra Kumar was so unhappy with her and Kumar Gaurav's relationship that he used to get her removed from films. She has blamed Rajendra Kumar for ruining her career.
In a recent interview to Waves Retro, Vijayta Pandit said, I have never talked about this before today. Actually, when the film Love Story was being made, it was a love story. Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) is the first boy whom I hugged for the first time in my life. When we do such passionate scenes, it is very natural to fall in love. This was the first time a boy touched me. We both fell in love with each other.
Vijayta made her debut in Hindi cinema with Love Story opposite Kumar Gaurav.
The film was shot in Kashmir for 2-3 months. Bunty (Kumar Gaurav) used to like me a lot, he used to follow me, dance holding my hand. The situation was very different with me because my elder sister (Sulakshana Pandit) used to be with me during the shooting. She was very strict, she used to tell me not to talk so much to Bunty.
Further, she said, he was very charming. When Rajendra Kumar came to know that they were in love, he was very against it. He used to get very angry. He used to scold Bunty after drinking alcohol even during the shooting of the film that something will happen only if you work, if you fall in love right now, what will happen to your career.
The actress further said that Rajendra Kumar used to advise his son Kumar Gaurav to stay away from Vijayta Pandit and used to say, you are my prince, I will bring a princess for you, I will marry you to a rich girl. Vijayta used to get very scared on hearing this. The actress has said that during the shooting in Kashmir, Rajendra Kumar and Kumar Gaurav used to argue a lot after drinking alcohol. Vijayta used to get very scared on seeing this. She had decided that she would not talk to Kumar Gaurav.
Vijayta and Kumar Gaurav's affair was in the news a lot.
Vijayta Pandit further said that Rajendra Kumar got his son engaged to Reema Kapoor (Rishi Kapoor's sister) during the shooting of the film because he was annoyed with the closeness between her and Kumar Gaurav. Even after the engagement, Kumar Gaurav used to come to Vijayta's house to meet her.
The actress said- My parents used to get very angry seeing this. They used to say that Kumar Gaurav is engaged to Raj Kapoor's daughter, then why does he come to the house. Daddy wanted to go to Rajendra Kumar's house to complain about Kumar Gaurav. One day my mother told Kumar Gaurav that since you are engaged, you should not come to meet my daughter, to this Kumar Gaurav said that I am engaged, but I will marry Vijayta only. He used to say that I will talk to my parents. I want to marry her only.
Vijayta has told that Kumar Gaurav had sworn in front of her mother that if he marries, he will marry only Vijayta or else he will not marry her. However, after a few days, she came to know that Kumar Gaurav is having an affair with Sunil Dutt's daughter Namrata Dutt.

Vijayta has told that after her first film became a superhit, she got many films. She was cast with Kumar Gaurav in many films. She had even started shooting for the film Raahi, but she was removed from every film on the orders of Rajendra Kumar. The actress said, he was the person who did not let me work with Kumar Gaurav.
