Camera assistant Ajit Kumar died in an accident on the sets of the popular TV show 'Anupama' on 14 November 2024. After this tragic incident, the show's producer Rajan Shahi has issued an official statement.
Statement from the production house:
We, Directors Kut Productions and Shahi Productions Pvt. Ltd., have been working in the TV industry for the last 18 years. Our team has made shows like 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', 'Bidaai' and 'Anupamaa'. All this is the result of the hard work and dedication of more than 300 of our people.
On November 14, apprentice camera assistant Ajit Kumar accidentally got an electric shock on the sets of 'Anupama' in Film City. He had accidentally lifted the light rod and camera together, and he was not even wearing slippers for safety. The DOP (Director of Photography) present on the set called it 'human error'. Ajit was taken to the hospital immediately after the incident and was given immediate treatment, but regrettably, we could not save him.
We immediately arranged flight tickets to bring Ajit Kumar's family from Patna to Mumbai. We took full responsibility of his hospital and medical expenses. Apart from this, we helped the family to return to Patna and also provided compensation. The insurance amount will be given to their nominee.
The safety and well-being of all our team members has always been our priority. This accident is a big shock for us. We pray to God that Ajit Kumar's soul rest in peace.
Also, some people are spreading rumors regarding this incident. We clearly warn that if this is not stopped, we will take strict legal action against such people.
We have also informed the Producers Guild of India, Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC), Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) about this incident.
