Karishma Kapoor is Raj Kapoor's eldest granddaughter. When she was born, Raj Kapoor had put a condition. He said that he would go to the hospital and see his granddaughter only if her eyes were blue. This was mentioned by Karishma's mother Babita in Raj Kapoor's biography.
In the biography The One and Only Showman written by Raj Kapoor's daughter Ritu Nanda, Babita Kapoor said, 'I remember the day Lolo (Karisma) was born. The whole family was with me at Breach Candy Hospital, but my father-in-law was not there.
He said he would come to the hospital only if the baby's eyes were blue. Thank God Lolo's eyes were deep blue like my father-in-law's.'
In the same book, Karishma also talked about her bonding with her grandfather. She said, 'As a teenager, I always said that I want to work in films. I wanted to become an actor. I remember my grandfather used to say – becoming an actor is not an easy task. If you want to become an actor, then walk on thorns and work on the soil so that you can become a good actor. An actor should always aim to be the best.'
Raj Kapoor had said- Babita one day you will become a big star
Babita also revealed in her biography that her father Hari Shivdasani and Raj Kapoor used to play tennis together. When Raj Kapoor would go to Babita's house after playing tennis, she would ask the actor to become a heroine.
Babita had said, 'I remember that in my childhood I used to sit on his lap and he would ask me what I want to become when I grow up? I used to say that I want to become an actor and he would always encourage me and say that one day I will definitely become a big star.'
