Actress Amrita Khanvilkar will soon be seen in a sports biopic. She will be seen in the role of Indian long distance runner Lalita Shivaji Babar. Amrita has been a part of many Marathi and Bollywood films. This biopic of his will be in Marathi language.
In an interview given to Dainik Bhaskar, the actress shared interesting things related to her upcoming sports biopic. Some highlights of the conversation:
I am very excited about this project. The story is about Lita Shivaji Babar who is from Satara. A girl from a village with no running water wins gold in the Commonwealth Games. She has also been a part of the Olympics. We will show his journey in the film.
Regarding the preparation of the film, Amrita further said, 'Right now the work on scripting is going on. It is indeed a challenge for us to tell the complete story of runner Lalita Babar in this 3-hour film. Want to showcase their 18-20 years of hard work in the right way. That's why scripting is taking some time.
He further said, 'We met Lalita Babar and her family. I even attended his wedding. The process of this film is going on for the last 4 years. When the time comes for shooting, I will start working on body transformation. This story is being made especially to encourage Maharashtrian girls. Generally the families there do not send their girls to sports. Maharashtrians are a bit conservative in nature. We want this story to bring some change in our society.
These days, Amrita is in the news for the web series 'Looter'. According to the actress, no one had approached her for this series. Rather, he asked for this role up front from the casting director. Regarding this she says, 'I had gone to Mukesh Chhabra's office to audition for some other project. There I came to know about the casting of this show of Hansal Mehta. I wanted to work with Hansal sir. For the audition, I asked for the script in advance. Jai Mehta saw that audition. This is how I got selected.
Amrita has managed to impress the audience with her acting in the films Raazi (2018), Satyamev Jayate (2018) and Malang (2020).
