Prime Minister Modi reviewed the situation after Cyclone 'Remal'









New Delhi, Leading News Service: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting today to review the post-cyclone situation in the northeastern states. More than 36 people have lost their lives and more than two lakh people have been affected in the northeastern states due to floods, heavy rains and landslides caused by Cyclone 'Remal' in the last few days. In this background, the Prime Minister along with key officials held a review meeting regarding the situation after the cyclone and the heat wave in the country.

Parts of the North East have been heavily affected due to incessant rains and landslides due to Cyclone 'Remal'. At some places, railway tracks have been submerged under the flood waters. The Northeast Frontier Railway has also canceled express, passenger and freight trains to South Assam, Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram from Tuesday. Life has been disrupted in some places. In the background of all these situations, the Prime Minister held a review meeting. There is severe heat wave in various states of the country. It was also reviewed in this meeting that due to heat wave, the temperature has increased to a large extent in many places.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier expressed grief over the situation in the North-Eastern states during natural calamities after Cyclone 'Remal' and assured all possible cooperation. He said that the central government is monitoring the situation. Officials are working on the ground to help the affected people and areas. On social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi said, “Large areas have been affected by Cyclone Remal in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal. Citizens faced natural calamities. My prayers are with all those affected by this situation. Taking stock of the situation, the central government has assured all possible assistance to the states and officials are working continuously to help those affected.” He also said.

Meeting for the next government's 100-day programme?

Almost all the exit polls have indicated that the NDA will get majority in the recently held Lok Sabha elections in the country. In this background, according to sources, Prime Minister Modi will hold around 7 meetings on various topics including a brainstorming session to review the agenda of the first 100 days of the new government. They will hold a meeting to review the preparations for celebrating World Environment Day (June 5) on a grand scale. A special session will also be held to review what will be the agenda of the new government's 100-day program after exit polls predicted a landslide victory for the BJP.
