Prachi Desai has been working in the film and TV industry for the last 18 years. She was just 17 years old when she worked in her first TV serial 'Kasam Se'. Now Prachi is in discussion about her new film 'Silence 2'. In this film, Prachi has played the role of Inspector Sanjana Bhatia. This film has recently been released on the OTT platform Zee5. Now Prachi had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar.
Shared screen with Manoj sir for the first time in Silence 1
She says, 'When I heard the story of Silence-1, the entire country was under lockdown, the director also talked to me online. As soon as I heard the story of this film, I became interested in what will be the climax of the film? I was excited to do the film. I always wanted to play the role of a police officer. Apart from this, she was sharing the screen with Manoj sir for the first time, which was an achievement in itself. Had a lot of fun with him on the film set.
This time we are undercover in the film, so I will also be seen doing action.
I am playing the character of Sanjana Bhatia in Silence-2. The first story is about the Chief Justice whose daughter is murdered. He says I just need ACP Avinash to solve this mystery. And this is how Manoj sir comes into the film.
As soon as ACP Avinash comes, he says that I will choose my own team to work and thus he brings us into the film. We are part of the special unit so you will not see me in police uniform. However, this time we are undercover, so you will mostly see us in the office of the Special Unit and mostly doing ground work. In the film you will not see me interrogating, but you will see me working and also doing some action.
Manoj Bajpayee is an acting institute, he does every work perfectly.
I like all the members of this team very much. Working with Manoj sir is like a dream for any actor. There is a lot to learn from them. It's incredible to learn from someone like him in such a short period of time. He is like an institute of acting.
He knows how easy it is for him, but he works very hard. He spends a lot of time preparing, he makes sure he does everything perfectly. I don't know how he does it, but he's great to work with. There are so many different things to learn from him just by watching him.
The experience of shooting in Rajasthan was very good
For most OTT formats, we shoot from beginning to end. A lot of time was wasted in shooting earlier films. We used to hear that people shoot films throughout the year. But now we wrap up projects in less than 3 months.
This film has been shot in Mumbai as well as Rajasthan. It was a great experience shooting in Rajasthan with the team. I would like to say that shooting in Mumbai this time was a different kind of challenge. Because we were shooting it during the rainy season and there is a technical part that when it is raining, water gets filled and you are going for the shoot, then you are not able to reach the location and many such issues come up. Let's come. But even after this we completed its shooting.
I think this is the right time for women centric films
I have always liked such films which bring some kind of change in the world of cinema. English Vinglish is a favorite movie of mine. Exactly the same story, in which Vidya Balan worked. In recent times, viewers are in that space where they can watch the things they want to watch.
I think this is the right time for women centric films. I think the audience is now opening up about what they like and we need to focus on those things. You may think that there are a lot of such films, but truth be told, there are not that many. I want that more such films should be made.
After the arrival of OTT, many people are getting opportunities
We have a long way to go in terms of content quality. But I am very happy that along with the silver screen, we have a platform like OTT. So this is a good thing for all the people who were waiting to tell their stories. The nature of OTT is so good that you watch it in the comfort of your home and that is why whatever you watch seems quite engaging.
Because of this I think a lot of such thrillers and investigative dramas are being made now. So in this way we are also growing. Where many people are getting opportunities. On the other hand, the audience is also getting a chance to see a lot of things in terms of content. We are doing very well as a medium, but we still have a long way to go in terms of quality.
