PBKS vs GT: Punjab is 'King' against Gujarat | leader









Leaders Online Desk: Punjab Kings secured a resounding victory by three wickets in the away match against Gujarat. Chasing the 200-run challenge set by Gujarat, Punjab's Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma overcame the challenge with a batting storm. (PBKS vs GT)

Chasing down the challenge from Gujarat, Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 61 off 29 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes to lead Punjab Kings to victory over Gujarat Titans. This is Punjab's second win in four matches in the current IPL season. Punjab had faced two defeats earlier, but the team overcame adversity to beat Gujarat at home.

Batting first, Gujarat scored 199 runs for the loss of four wickets on the strength of captain Shubman Gill's unbeaten 89 off 48 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. Punjab Kings got off to a poor start in chasing the target. But Shashank and Ashutosh Sharma, who came in as impact players, brought the team back into the match. On the strength of these two batsmen, Punjab recorded a victory with one ball to spare. In bowling for Gujarat, Noor Ahmed took two wickets while Umarzai, Umesh Yadav, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma and Darshan Nalkande took one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first in the match, Gujarat Titans set a target of 200 runs for victory against Punjab Kings. From Gujarat, skipper Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 89 runs off 48 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes. On the strength of Gill's innings, Gujarat scored 199 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. Gill has become the highest individual run scorer this season. For Punjab, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took two wickets for 44 runs in four overs, while Harpreet Brar and Harshal Patel got one each.
