New Delhi, Leading News Service: While it is predicted that the BJP will suffer a major setback in the two-phase polls, now all the opposition parties, including the BJP, are focused on the third phase polls to be held on May 7. BJP believes that it will get success in 94 constituencies like last election. The opposition party, however, is preparing to give a bigger blow to the BJP by breaking this trust.

In the third phase, polling was to be held in 95 Lok Sabha constituencies in 12 states. However, BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was elected unopposed in Gujarat's Surat. So now voting will be held in 94 constituencies. In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP won 77 out of 94 seats. BJP's allies won the remaining 8 seats. The opposition parties had only 9 seats. It included 4 Congress seats. In the third phase of elections in 2014, BJP won 66 seats.

In the last election, BJP won 15 more seats along with allied parties. Shiv Sena got 3 seats and Lok Jan Shakti Party got 1 seat. At that time BJP had won 70 seats and surpassed the opposition parties. Statistics show that BJP got good success in the third phase in both 2014 and 2019 elections. If the opposition parties make more efforts to prevent the BJP from winning these seats, it is likely to have a major impact on the election results.

Among the 94 Lok Sabha constituencies in 12 states going to polls, 11 seats in Maharashtra are included. Among them, there are 7 seats in Western Maharashtra and 2 seats each in Marathwada and Konkan regions. Besides Assam (4), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (7), Goa (2), Gujarat (26), Karnataka (14), Madhya Pradesh (8), Uttar Pradesh (10), West Bengal (4), Dadra Voting will be held in Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu (2) and Jammu-Kashmir (1) seats. Last time, out of 11 seats in Maharashtra, 8 seats were won by BJP and allied parties. So BJP has a challenge to win these seats again.
