According to a report, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. 'TRAI' is gearing up to roll out the system, asking Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL to activate the caller ID system as soon as possible. So that smartphone users can know before picking up the call. TRAI has named its Caller ID system as Calling Name Presentation (CNP). The biggest feature of Caller ID system is that it will also display names of people on your phone, whose numbers are not saved in your mobile. So if someone calls you from an unknown number, you will know their name.

According to the report, the 'CNP' service will not be activated by default. Customers have to make a request to their telecom operator to enable this service. Only after that the service will start. This service of 'TRAI' can help a lot to get rid of the problem of fraud and unknown calls.

Caller ID app in crisis

Currently there are few apps available to identify caller ID. Some of them are paid. As 'TRAI' has now directly instructed the mobile companies to start 'CNP', this private app will face a crisis. These private apps capture phone number data to display the caller's name. It also raised many questions about data security. Now all of them will be affected.
