'The Great Indian Kapil Show' is once again embroiled in controversies. Actress Roslyn Khan has sent a legal notice to Navjot Singh Sidhu, Kapil Sharma and Netflix, in which she has demanded a public apology from Sidhu and the team of the show. They allege that wrong information related to cancer was shared in the show, which could mislead the audience.

Dainik Bhaskar spoke to Roslin's lawyer Ali Kasif Khan Deshmukh, who said that he suspects that there may be some political agenda behind this entire matter. Read some key excerpts from the conversation:

What allegations has Roslyn Khan made in the notice sent to Kapil Sharma, Navjot Singh Sidhu and Netflix? Navjot Singh Sidhu had claimed that during his fight with cancer, his wife used neem leaves boiled in water and this helped her defeat the disease. However, this claim is completely baseless and against medical science. Roslin, who is herself a cancer survivor, says that such false claims can mislead people suffering from a serious disease like cancer. Even Tata Memorial Hospital and other reliable institutions have termed this claim as false.

Could Navjot Singh Sidhu's claims related to cancer be aimed at gaining political mileage? Yes, we believe that Navjot Singh Sidhu is trying to take political advantage of a serious disease like cancer by making such claims. He is using it to attract public sympathy and voters. But this is a very sensitive topic and such false statements can lead people to rely on unscientific measures instead of medical science.

Why have Netflix and Kapil Sharma been dragged into this matter, and what is their connection with it? This claim was also made in Kapil Sharma Show and then it was streamed on Netflix. We believe that when such false content is shown on any show or platform, it can mislead millions of people. Therefore we have made three major demands:

1. Demand for forgiveness: Navjot Singh Sidhu and Kapil Sharma should apologize publicly using the same platform.

2. Demand to remove content: Netflix should immediately remove the episode that featured this claim.

3. Caution in future: The Kapil Sharma Show should refrain from promoting such false claims.

We have given them 14 days time. If they do not fulfill these demands, we will take the matter to court.

Has any law been cited on this? Yes, there is a Drugs and Magic Remedies Act in India, which prohibits such false and inaccurate claims. Under the law you cannot promote magical remedies or false medicines. Through this notice, we have tried to ensure that no one misleads the public with such irresponsible claims. Our objective is clear – to put an end to such false claims so that people get accurate and reliable information on serious issues like cancer.

If sources are to be believed, Netflix's legal team has received this notice. However, it is too early to make any statement on this. We also tried to get the reactions of Kapil Sharma and Navjot Singh Sidhu on this legal notice, but they were not available.
