New Delhi, Leading News Service: The Supreme Court clarified on Thursday that no special relief has been granted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently out on bail in the liquor policy scam case. The ED lawyers countered Kejriwal by raising the issue that he was telling the public during his election campaign speech that if you vote, I will not have to go to jail again after June 2. However, the Supreme Court rejected this opposition of the ED.
A bench of Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta is hearing the petition filed by Kejriwal challenging the ED's arrest and remand. Our decision to grant bail to Kejriwal is justified. If there is criticism of this decision, we also welcome it, the bench said.
Arguing on behalf of the ED, Advocate General Tushar Mehta said that after coming out of jail on bail, Kejriwal in his election campaign speech is telling the public that if you vote for the Aam Aadmi Party, I will not have to go to jail again after June 2. Adv. Mehta did. However, Kejriwal's statement by the Supreme Court while rejecting the claim of ED's lawyers is their prediction. We explained that we cannot talk about it.
The ED lawyers informed the Supreme Court that the Aam Aadmi Party will also be made an accused in the liquor policy scam case and that a chargesheet will soon be filed against the party along with Kejriwal. The ED lawyers also claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party spent the money from the liquor policy scam in the Goa Assembly election campaign. The ED had also given the same information in the Delhi High Court during the hearing of AAP leader Manish Sisodia's bail plea two days ago. The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1.
