New Delhi, Leading News Service: As soon as the National Democratic Alliance government came to power, it has started taking decisions in the interest of the common people. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana implemented by the Modi government in the last ten years became very popular. Further, the decision to build 3 crore more houses under this scheme was taken in the very first meeting of the Union Cabinet held on Monday (10th). The first cabinet meeting of the National Democratic Alliance government was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg. All 31 Union Ministers and 36 State Ministers of the Cabinet were present in this meeting.
A total of 4 crore 21 lakh houses have been constructed for the homeless families in the country under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana during the tenure of the Ramodi government in the last ten years. Eligible rural and urban households are being subsidized by the Central Government from 2015-16 for these houses. A decision was taken in the Cabinet meeting to expand the scope of the scheme and build 3 crore more houses with the aim of getting maximum benefit of the Awas Yojana to the poor families.
All the houses to be constructed under this scheme will also be provided with basic facilities like household toilets, gas connection, electricity connection, household tap connection etc. combined with other schemes of the Central Government and State Governments.
