'My marriage with Rajesh Khanna was painful': Dimple Kapadia said- I was too young to understand what was happening

Actress Dimple Kapadia had described her marriage with late actor Rajesh Khanna as painful. She had said that she was too young to understand what was happening to her.

Let us tell you, Dimple married Rajesh Khanna at the age of just 15. After marriage, both of them became parents of two daughters. However, this marriage did not last long and both started living separately without getting divorced.

Dimple said- all this was very difficult for me

In an interview with Pritish Nandy in 1994, Dimple spoke openly about her marriage with Rajesh Khanna. She also explained why their relationship did not last long.

She had said- I think we were both very different people. I was probably too young to understand what was happening with someone who was a superstar. I mean I could never understand stars and their behavior patterns because I am not like that myself. All this was very difficult for me. I could not understand it.

When the host of the show asked Dimple if all this was painful, Dimple replied – yes it was.

When Rajesh Khanna married Dimple, he was at the peak of his career. But with time, his stardom started fading. It is said that Rajesh Khanna was not able to deal with his failures properly and this started affecting his marriage as well.

Dimple said- I had fallen in love with Rajesh Khanna at a young age

In another interview, Dimple said that she was very naive when she fell in love with Rajesh Khanna. She believed that Rajesh Khanna would sing songs for her in real life, like he does in films. When the actor did not do so in real life, she was devastated.
