The film 'Munjya', made under Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe, is going to premiere on TV for the first time on August 24. Actor Abhay Verma is seen in the lead role in the film. A special discussion was held with him on many things including the success of this film and future projects.
Sharvari is seen in the lead role opposite Abhay in 'Munjya'.
What would you say about the success of 'Munjya'?
The small advantage is that I am getting a lot of gifts along with people's love. Many fans have made sketches of me and sent them to me. I feel that after a long time a film has come which can be watched by even the youngest member of the family and the elders too. This is the reason why people have accepted me.
The big advantage is that recently I have received a lot of praise from Karan Johar and Imtiaz Ali.
I heard that you were fond of cricket, then how did you come into acting?
Yes, I used to play a lot of cricket. I had even reached the national level but in the meantime, I fractured my hand, after which bowling became difficult for me.
During this time, my inclination towards films increased. I also became fond of reading fictional novels. I think the accident brought a lot of changes in my life.
The film 'Munjya' had earned Rs 132.13 crore at the worldwide box office.
Will you share something about 'Mann Bairagi'?
I did the film 'Mann Bairagi' 6 years ago. This is also my first film but due to some reason it could not be released. I was inspired to become an actor after watching Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir's film.
He produced this film. I am happy that I got my first chance to showcase myself on screen with him.
Have you taken any training for acting?
To be honest, I could not afford the fees of a big film institute for acting training. I would definitely like to learn more. I have learnt a little bit by watching movies, so in this sense my teachers have been actors. However, it is not that just because I have come into this field, I will not learn, I will learn from wherever I get to learn something new.
Are you doing any further project with Dinesh Vijan?
There is a project with Dinesh Vijan. It has a similar world as 'Munjya'. I don't know yet if 'Munjya-2' will also come. I am lucky that I have got such good and big projects in such an early phase of my career.
Are you following any particular pattern for script selection?
I have never tried to keep myself in any kind of box. People have given me a lot of love even before 'Munjya', so why would I want to bring any kind of change in myself. I would say that any story, whether it is small or big, whether it has only two lines of mine, or it is a whole film. I am only concerned with the character. What he is going to do, what big changes are there because of him, the focus remains on that.
'Munjya' is the fourth film in Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe.
How excited are you about the TV premiere of 'Munjya'?
I consider TV a bigger medium than theatres. I myself have been watching Star Gold since childhood. Today, my film is releasing on this channel which is a big thing for me. On 24th August, I myself am going to be the first audience of my film.
