Govinda had issued a message from the hospital informing about his well-being. – file photo
Mumbai Police on Wednesday questioned Bollywood actor Govinda (60) over the hospital shooting. Govinda was injured by a bullet in his leg on October 1.
He had said that he was keeping the revolver in the cupboard when the bullet was fired. Govinda's leg was operated upon and the bullet was removed. He is admitted in Criti Care Hospital, Mumbai.
When Juhu police questioned him, Govinda reiterated that the bullet had misfired. The actor told the police that the incident happened around 4.45 am on Tuesday morning. The police is not satisfied with Govinda's statement and will interrogate him again soon. Police have also recorded the statement of Govinda's daughter Tina Ahuja.
Doctors performed an operation on October 1 and removed the bullet from Govinda's leg.
Govinda had issued an audio message from the hospital saying-
I am fine with your blessings. A bullet was fired by mistake, which has been removed after operation. Thank you to the doctors and all of you for your prayers.
Were about to leave for Kolkata to attend the program
Govinda's manager Shashi Sinha has told that he was going to Kolkata for a program. The flight was at 6 o'clock. While keeping the revolver in the cupboard, it misfired and he was shot below his knee. He was immediately taken to Andheri hospital. The bullet has been taken out. His condition is out of danger. There is no need to panic.

Actor and politician Shatrughan Sinha and director David Dhawan reached the hospital to inquire about Govinda's well being.
Apart from this, Kashmira Shah, wife of Govinda's nephew Krishna, reached Kriti Care Hospital. There was a time when the fight between Kashmira and Govinda's wife Sunita was in the headlines. The controversy between Govinda and Krishna started when Kashmira Shah tweeted in 2018 that some people dance for money. On this tweet, Sunita Ahuja had replied that this tweet has been made against Govinda. After this, Govinda-Sunita had ended all relations with Krishna-Kashmira.
Govinda joined Shiv Sena in March
Govinda had joined Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) on March 28. During this time Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was also present. After joining the party, Govinda had said- I was in politics from 2004 to 2009. It is a coincidence that after 14 years I have come into politics again. Whatever trust has been placed in me, I will fulfill it completely.
Govinda had contested the Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai North in 2004 on a Congress ticket. He defeated BJP's Ram Naik by 48,271 votes. The actor was an MP from 2004 to 2009.
