You have sung songs for the first time in 'Shaktimaan Returns', how was your experience?
I was a bathroom singer. Talat Mahmood Saheb has been my favourite. I have no intention of becoming a singer, but I must say that I have replaced Shaan and Javed Ali in this song. No one will say that I have sung dissonantly.
What was the process of singing, tell us something about it?
The song took 6 months to make. Earlier he was going to do 'Come children, let me show you the glimpse of India'. The video was also shot, but I felt that today's children see everything on Google Maps. Apart from this, there was also a problem regarding the rights of the songs.
What problem was there regarding the rights of the song?
'Come children, show us Jhanki Hindustan' is a song from the film 'Jagriti', its rights are with Saregama. When we talked to him about the rights of the song, he said that he would have 70 percent share in the profit and 30 percent would be ours. I didn't like his deal.
We thought of working on some original songs. When lyricist Deepak Tripathi wrote 'Katha Azadi Ke Veero Ki', I felt that I too can sing this song. If Amitabh Bachchan Sahab can sing 'Come children tell us the story of a lion', then why can't I sing.
But after seeing this song, people formed a different opinion?
People started understanding that through this song I have come to tell who will be the Shaktiman of my film 'Shaktimaan'? However, it is not like that. I have come to educate children through 'Shaktiman Returns', which Shaktiman has already been doing. The thinking of today's children has become very bad.
One actress did not know who had brought Sanjeevani Booti. I thought that old Shaktiman has the right to impart education, so why not come with his super teacher element. 'Katha Azadi Ke Veeron Ki' highlights the lives and contributions of freedom fighters. I have come to tell today's generation that these are our real heroes.
What is your ambition regarding the film Shaktimaan, in what form do you want to see the film?
Every person wants a film to be made on his TV show, but I did not go to anyone to make a film. Even today, if I get permission from Doordarshan or any other channel, I can make 1000 episodes on Shaktimaan. Sony people themselves, who have made many films like 'Spider-Man', came to make the film.
I had written in the agreement with them that you will not change the seven ideals of Shaktimaan. There is a delay in starting the film because everyone knows that I am stuck on casting.
What is the problem regarding casting?
I want an actor for Shaktimaan who has a gentle face. He should have the qualities of a teacher. I once jokingly said that what will Tiger Shroff be able to teach children? The children themselves will ask him to sit with me.
Ranveer Singh sat with me for three hours, but I did not see Shaktimaan in him. I believe that the person who has played the role of Alauddin Khilji, how can he become Shaktiman?
Shaktimaan is a character at the level of Ram and Krishna. It is not necessary that Shaktiman becomes a big star. There is no shortage of talent in our country, I want auditions for Shaktimaan to be held in the entire country.
It is heard that they are going to come up with a new show?
Planning a web series 'Marshal' for OTT platform. I will be seen in the role of a retired RAW officer in this show.
