Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna played the role of Bhishma Pitamah in BR Chopra's famous TV show 'Mahabharata'. Now in a recent interview, the actor has criticized Ekta Kapoor's TV show 'Kahani Hamare Mahabharat Ki' released in 2008.

This is not the first time that Mukesh Khanna has criticized Ekta Kapoor's 'Mahabharat'. He has criticized this serial many times before.

No one could recreate our 'Mahabharata'
In an interview to Bollywood Bubble, the actor said, 'Many people thought of recreating 'Mahabharata' but no one could do it because they did not have writers like Dr. Rahi Masoom Raza and Pandit Narendra Sharma and neither did they have dedication like them.
There was an attempt to tamper with it. Ekta Kapoor had given a tattoo to Draupadi. All the Pandavas with their bare bodies looked like models.'

This show, which aired on TV in 2008, was produced by Ekta Kapoor.

In our version, all the characters had a distinct identity
Khanna further said, 'In our version, Bhima's role was played by Praveen Kumar, Arjun's role was played by Feroz Khan, Pankaj Dheer played Karna and Gajendra Chauhan played Yudhishthira. These actors played these roles very well and that is why people remember them even today. Nakul and Sahdev also had a different identity.'

Actors like Hiten Tejwani, Anita Hassanandani, Harshad Chopra and Chetan Hansraj were seen in lead roles in the show.

Everything has become commercial nowadays
In the end the actor said, 'Overall I want to say that the dedication we showed in our 'Mahabharat' has never been shown by anyone. Nowadays everything has been made commercial.
There is no sense of storytelling like Chopra sahab. Today people are dependent on sets, hence, Mahabharata has not been remade successfully.'
