This film is based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim. Syed Abdul Rahim was the coach and manager of the Indian National Football Team from 1952 to 1962.

Maidan, a film based on the life of coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who showed the golden era of Indian football, will be released on April 10. We have reviewed the film a day ago. The length of this real life based film starring Ajay Devgan is 3 hours 1 minute. Dainik Bhaskar has given it a 3 star rating out of 5.

What is the story of the film?
The golden period of Indian football was from 1952 to 1962. This was possible only because of one man Syed Abdul Rahim (Ajay Devgan). The story of the film is based on his life. At the beginning of the story, it is shown that Syed Abdul Rahim collects players from all over the country and trains them to play for the country. Meanwhile, he has to deal with some regionalists inside the Indian Football Federation.

The people sitting there wanted that the players of Bengal should get more opportunities in Team India, but Syed Abdul Rahim had a different thinking. They want to give opportunities to real talent. The performance of the Indian team in the 1952 and 1956 Olympics was excellent, although the team could not reach the final.

For this reason Rahim is removed from the post of coach. Meanwhile, he also gets cancer, although his courage does not break. He again becomes the coach of India and brings glory to the team in the Asian Games.

The film will be released on April 10.

How is the acting of the star cast?
Obviously you will see only Ajay Devgan in the film. Ajay Devgan has done an excellent job in the role of Syed Abdul Rahim. Ajay Devgan is known for acting with his eyes, in this film also he has acted mostly with his eyes. Priyamani has also done a good job in the role of his wife. Gajraj Rao has also done a good job in the role of a sports journalist. All the actors have impressed in the roles of Indian players.

The shooting of Maidaan started in 2019, but it took more than four years to release.

How is the direction?
Amit Sharma, who made successful films like Badhaai Ho, has directed the film. In the first half he has kept the story completely boring and slow. The first half is so boring that you will be forced to use your phone and look here and there. The second half, especially the climax sequence, is fantastic. The camera work in the football match sequences is superb, it will feel as if you are watching a live match.

How is the music of the film?
The music part of the film is the most disappointing. I am saying this because the music of the film is composed by A.R. It has been given by a legendary music director like Rahman. The music of this film is not good at all as per his stature. Usually the music of sports drama films is energy giving, this is not the case in this film. After the film is over, the songs and background score are not even remembered.

Final Verdict, watch the movie or not?
Our country has been known for cricket and hockey since early times, although there came a time when Indian football was called the Brazil of Asia. This was possible only because of one person Syed Abdul Rahim. If you want to know his story then you can go for this film.

While watching the film, you will remember some scenes from Chak De India, although you will not enjoy it that much. As I told earlier that the first half of the film is boring, if you have the ability to digest it then you can watch the film once.
