Two of the largest milk producing companies in the country have increased the prices of their products just after the Lok Sabha elections. First, Amul increased milk prices by two rupees per liter. Just 12 hours later, Mother Dairy also announced a price hike for its products. According to the company, Mother Dairy has increased the prices of fresh pouch milk (all types) by Rs 2 per liter from June 3.

Milk Prices: Due to increase in production cost of milk, sales also increase
Earlier, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) had said that the price of all types of Amul milk has been hiked by Rs 2 from Monday in view of the increase in total cost of milk and cost of production. Therefore, the price of Amul milk pouches will increase by Rs 2 per liter in all markets across the country.
Earlier in February 2023, increase in milk sale rate
GCMMF Managing Director Jayan Mehta said that the price of all types of milk under the Amul brand has been increased by Rs 2 per litre. The GCNMF last hiked milk prices in February 2023. Speaking to the media, Mehta explained that this increase is necessary to cover the increased production costs of farmers.
