According to the sources in Chief Minister's office, Chief Minister N Biren Singh's convoy was going from Imphal to Jiribam district around 10.30 am today. A convoy was attacked by armed militants on National Highway-37. A security personnel was injured in this attack.
Around 70 houses, including government offices, were burnt down by angry mobs after the killing of a Jiribam youth, and hundreds of civilians have been displaced from the area. The Chief Minister's planned visit was to visit Jiribam, which has been in the grip of violence for the past few days. Right before this round, the convoy of Chief Minister N Biren Singh was attacked and there has been excitement in Manipur. The injured security personnel has been admitted to the hospital in Imphal, reports 'ANI'.
