Meerut's Mansi's movie won award at Cannes Film Festival: 9-minute animated film; won third prize at 'La Cinéfe' – Meerut News


After Nancy Tyagi of Barnawa, Meerut, another daughter of UP has done wonders at the Cannes Film Festival. An animated film made by Meerut-born Mansi Maheshwari Bunnyhood La Cinéfaye won the Third Prize at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

The first prize of La Cinéfe has been won by an Indian Kannada film. The second prize has been won by Asiya Segalovich's movie Out of the Widow Through the Wall of Columbia University and Thessaloniki of Greece. The third prize has been won by Manasi Maheshwari's animated movie Bunnyhood. The premiere of this 9-minute film was played in Cannes. It has been highly appreciated by the audience.

For the first time, two films from India got awards

Manasi Maheshwari, Chidanand S. Naik, Asya Selagovic, and Nikos.

This is being considered a big victory for India at the Cannes Film Festival. La Cinéfe Award has been announced in Cannes a short while ago. In which Chidanand S Naik's film Sunflowers Where the First Ones to Know has won the La Cinéfe Award.

This movie is based on a Kannada folktale. This movie got a prize of 15000 euros. The second winning movie got a prize money of 11,250 euros.

Manasi's movie Bunnyhood has received the third prize of La Cinéfa. For this, Manasi has received a prize of 7500 Euros.

Manasi said about her film- Bunnyhood It is a horror comedy film. I have shown the truth of life in it. In the movie, I have told the story of my mother's surgery which was hidden from me.

Britain is graduating from NFTS
Manasi is graduating from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in the UK. Before joining NFTS, Manasi was a student of knitwear design at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi. During the same time, she also started trying her hand at filmmaking and started making short films.

After her initial studies from Meerut, Mansi did her further studies from NIFT Delhi. During the Corona period, she got inclined towards creativity. After this, she did her studies in stop-motion animation. Mansi says that a total of 10 students get admission in NFTS, I was one of them.

The subject of the movie is why lie
Manasi says on the subject of the movie Banihood that when and why does a person have to lie in life. What are the circumstances that force a person to lie. The movie is related to that. The subject and animation effect of the movie are the main reasons for its selection in Cannes.

Manasi used to watch only cartoons in her childhood
Manasi used the oldest form of animation in the movie, cell animation, butter paper and frosted acetate, so that the film could be given a vintage look and feel. This is why it has limited colors. Manasi was fond of watching cartoons in her childhood. Her brother often used to say, how will you grow up if you only watch cartoons?

Father is a businessman, mother is a designer
Mansi Maheshwari, resident of Sheelkunj Colony, Mansi's father Nitin Maheshwari is a businessman. Mother Meena Maheshwari is an interior designer. Brother Namit Maheshwari is doing MBA. Mansi was a topper in 12th in DPS.
