Maternal Death Woman's death during childbirth: Homeopathy doctor calling himself gynecologist fined Rs 30 lakh | leader









Leaders Online Desk: A consumer forum in Uttar Pradesh has imposed a penalty of Rs 30 lakh on a homeopathic lady doctor and a nursing home here. This penalty has been imposed in case of death of a woman during childbirth. This lady doctor is a homeopathy doctor. But she was pretending to be a gynaecologist, hence the penalty imposed by the consumer forum, blaming negligence in treatment. (Maternal Death)

This complaint was filed by Vinay Kumar Mishra, husband of this woman. The name of the fined doctor is Meena Pandey. On January 15, 2014, Mishra admitted his wife to Pandey's nursing home for delivery. This woman gave birth to a daughter. Bleeding during delivery was profuse. He Dr. Mishra instructed Pandey to provide blood immediately. His wife died by the time Mishra brought the blood. (Maternal Death)

After this, Mishra realized that Dr. Pandey is a homeopathic doctor, though he treated his wife with allopathy. Mishra then complained to the consumer forum. Also followed up the matter with the Medical Council.
Dr. Meena Pandey presented the defense to the consumer forum that her husband is an MBBS doctor who runs a nursing home and it was he who treated the concerned woman.

President Rajendra Singh and member Vikas Saxena of the consumer forum accused Dr. of medical negligence in this case. Placed on Meena Pandey. “Dr. Pandey is not a registered gynaecologist. “Had he not pretended to be a gynaecologist, Mishra would not have come to his hospital with his wife,” Singh said.
