Leading Online Desk : Maharashtra's son IPS officer Sadanand Date has been appointed as Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA). Date's appointment at the NIA, the country-wide anti-terrorism agency, will last till December 31, 2026. Dinkar Gupta, the current Director General of NIA, is retiring on March 31.
Date is a 1990 batch IPS officer of Maharashtra cadre. Date is known as a very skilled officer. Date is currently the head of the Anti-Terrorism Squad of Maharashtra. Earlier, he has served as the Commissioner of Mira Bhayandar, Vasai, Commissioner of Virar Commissionerate, Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch, Mumbai. Responsibilities have been carried out.

He performed bravely in the 26/11 terrorist attack on Mumbai. He was also awarded the President's Medal for the rescue of women and children held hostage by terrorists at Kama Hospital thanks to his donors. Date is known as a very persistent officer. He used to be in the office from 8.30 am to 9.30 pm when he was working in the financial crime branch in Mumbai. He was responsible for the completion of Mira Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar Commissionerate.
Date has a doctorate from Pune University and is originally from Pune.
