Many producers wanted to change the script of Lagaan: Ashutosh was advised not to play the match in the climax, Bhuvan should stab the British officer

Aamir Khan talked about 'Lagaan', one of the superhit films of his career, in an interview. Aamir told that director Ashutosh Gowariker had first approached him for this film but then Aamir rejected this film.

In an interview Aamir said, 'I told Ashutosh that the script is amazing but I don't have the courage to do it. It is out of the box.

I was also worried thinking whether my friend Ashutosh would get a producer for this or not?

'Lagaan', released in 2001, was the third highest-grossing film of the year after 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' and 'Gadar'.

Aamir further said, 'After my refusal, when Ashutosh took the film to many producers, some of them asked him to change the climax of the film.

One producer even said that instead of playing cricket at the end of the film, Aamir's character Bhuvan should be shown stabbing a British officer to death.

For some time, Ashutosh met many producers and actors but no one completely accepted the script of 'Lagaan'.

In 'Lagaan', Aamir played the role of Bhuvan and English actor Paul Blackthorne played the role of Captain Andrew Russell.
