Manu Rishi had worked with late actor Irrfan Khan in the film Angrezi Medium. Recently Manu told that he had buried Irrfan Khan. Manu also cried while telling this.
Manu was angry with the director, Irrfan Khan supported him
In an interview to The Red Mic, Manu told how Irrfan recommended him to write a film for a big director. Despite writing 11 films, the director did not trust Manu. On this, Manu said, 'Knowing this, I told the director – either you trust my work or trust Irrfan Bhai's recommendation. You have not seen my work. Otherwise you would not have asked me this question.
If I ask you to direct and show a scene, how would you feel?'
Manu told that Irrfan Khan had come to meet him that night of the incident. Instead of scolding Manu, he supported him to say the right thing to the director.
Manu said- I just wanted to hug Irfan bhai
Manu further said- When the shooting of Hindi Medium started, I called the director. I told him- Don't you have any role for me in the prequel of Angrezi Medium? Don't you have even a small part where I can hug Irrfan Bhai?
After this I got a call from Irfan bhai and he said- I am sending you the ticket. Come to Udaipur in 2 days.
I just went there to hug Irrfan bhai. I couldn't act at that moment. He is no more, but his messages are still with me.
Manu had applied sandalwood to Irrfan Khan before burying him
Manu also recalled how he almost missed seeing Irrfan for the last time. He said- I almost missed seeing him for the last time. But the cemetery was close to my house. When I reached there, everyone was standing at the gate of the cemetery. Due to the Covid guidelines, the police were not allowing anyone to go inside. I had no relation with an officer standing there, but he let me go inside. I applied sandalwood to Irrfan Bhai before burying him.
