'Gulmohar' has received the Best Film Award at the 70th National Film Awards Ceremony. This film was released on the OTT platform Hotstar. Manoj Bajpayee has played the lead role in this film. Rahul V. Chittela is the director of the film.
After this victory, both of them have talked to Dainik Bhaskar.
How do you feel after winning the National Award?
Manoj- I feel very bad that I was given the National Award, but keeping the joke aside, I can't really describe in words how good I am feeling. Ever since we got this news, there is only a smile on everyone's face.
A male name- I am very happy and as Manoj ji said that when we made the film together and released it, we never made a big deal that you have to do this and you have to do that. We made the film and presented it to the people and everyone liked the film very much. It got so much love.
Do you both think that more family drama films should be made?
A male name- I think a good film should be made, no matter what genre it is. Be it family drama, action, crime or romantic drama, it should just be a good film. So keep doing good work and keep making good films. Then people will keep watching them.
Manoj- I don't call 'Gulmohar' a family film. It is a film that everyone can watch. It is a good story. This film talks about the caste system, it also talks about inter-religious conflict. Many things are being talked about through this story, if it is limited to just being a family film then it will not be right.

How were you involved with the film?
Manoj– I did not like one thing in the script, rather I liked the script completely. Because this is a film in which not only my character but all the characters are dependent on each other. If you shift one actor even a little, the film will seem incomplete. I found its story balanced. This film talks about all kinds of issues. Which is not only talking about our time but also about the past. This is the strength of this film.
What does the audience like these days?
Manoj- Just a film. Make a film on any subject. A good film, a good script is very important for a film. This ensures that the film has a very good ending, as happened with Gulmohar.
Any good movie always ends with a good ending. A good movie stays alive forever.
While giving awards, does it matter whether the film is an OTT or theatre release?
Manoj- I don't understand what OTT or theatre means. Actually a film is a film, a film can be shown in the village by pulling a curtain. In our school, we used to put a curtain in the auditorium and play a film on a projector. A film can be shown anywhere. Many of our watchmen have seen 'Gulmohar'. Now nothing can be said about where the film will be seen, but the point is how the film is.
How do you view the content now?
Manoj- Let me tell you that writing is the backbone. Similarly, a film is a drama, in which everything starts and ends with writing. There are two stages of writing. One is script, screenplay and dialogue. The second, I believe, is editing. Both these departments should be given a lot of respect.
