Malaysia Masters: PV Sindhu enters quarterfinals of women's singles

Sindhu makes a stunning comeback

Sindhu started the match slowly. So she was down 3-7 in the first game. However, Sindhu produced a brilliant performance to win the first game with 21-13 points after the break. In the second game, it was a tight contest between the two players. Yoo Jin led 11-10 at the break and 12-21 on the restart to claim the second game to take the match to the third and deciding game. In the deciding game, Yoo Jin once again got off to a good start and took a 5-1 lead. Sindhu made a comeback to level the score at 6-6. After this, she displayed a tremendous game as Sindhu trailed by a margin of 13-9 and scored consecutive points to win the match by a margin of 21-14.

Sindhu will face Hen Yue in the quarterfinals

Sindhu has failed to find top form in her comeback after recovering from a knee injury suffered in October last year. Fifth seed Sindhu will face top seed Hen Yue in the next round. Hen Yue defeated Sindhu at the Asia Badminton Championships in Ningbo last month. Sindhu, who won the previous title at the Singapore Open in 2022, has a good record against world number six Hen Yue. Sindhu has won five out of six matches against Hen Yue.

India's disappointment in doubles

In other matches, mixed doubles B Sumit Reddy and N Sikki Reddy lost 9-21, 15-21 to the top-seeded Malaysian pair of Chen Tang Ji and Toh Ee Wei, while Simran Singhi and Ritika Thacker lost to Pearly Ten. And lost 17-21, 11-21 in the women's doubles against the second seeded Malaysian pair of Thinah Muralidharan.
