The film 'Sarfarosh', released in 1999, is considered one of the superhit films of Aamir Khan's career. Released on April 30, the film recently completed 25 years.

In an interview given on this occasion, the film's director John Mathew Mathan shared some stories related to the film. Also told that she and Aamir want to work on the second part of this film.

I thought Aamir was the most honest person: John
In an interview given to Indian Express, John told that he had finalized Aamir for this film after watching the film 'Dil' released in 1990.

John said- 'I saw a scene from the film 'Dil' on TV. Seeing him I realized that Aamir is a very honest and truthful person. However, he was not a big star then.

After this, when I came to Mumbai and started working on 'Sarfarosh', Aamir was the most suitable actor in my mind for the film.

Makers wanted to cast Shahrukh
John also told in this interview that the makers wanted to cast Shahrukh instead of Aamir in this film. John said- 'I met my friend Manmohan Shetty and told him that I want to make a film. By then Manmohan had produced two films and Shahrukh Khan was the actor in both.

He suggested me to cast Shahrukh in 'Sarfarosh' so that I can earn good money but I refused him saying that Shahrukh is not suitable for this role. After this I met Aamir. He read the script and immediately said yes to the film.

'As soon as we get the right script, we will work on Part 2'
While talking on Sarfarosh-2, John said- 'I met Aamir only last week. We wanted to do a special screening with the star cast and crew on the completion of 25 years of the film. He wants to work on 'Sarfarosh-2'.

I am also planning to make it but we have not got the perfect script yet. As soon as we get the right script, we will definitely make it and Aamir will definitely be a part of it.

Made for 8 crores, earned 33 crores
'Sarfarosh', released in 1999, was the sixth highest grossing film of that year. Made for just Rs 8 crore, this film did a business of Rs 33 crore at the box office.

Apart from Aamir, actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Sonali Bendre, Mukesh Rishi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui were also seen in the film. John Mathew Mathan himself made his directorial debut with the film.
