Major change in NTA; Pradeep Singh as new Director General in place of Subodh Kumar

Leaders Online Desk: National Testing Agency Director General Subodh Kumar has been sacked following the irregularities in the 'NEET' and 'NET' examinations held across the country. In his place, retired IAS Pradeep Singh Kharola will be the new Director General of NTA. Pradeep Singh Kharola is an IAS of Karnataka cadre. After the recent 'NET' paper leak and 'NET' exam malpractices, questions were constantly being raised on the functioning of the National Testing Agency. Now the government has taken a big action in this matter.

NTA has been established to make entrance exams free from malpractices. But, NTA's model is failing again and again. The NET exam of science branch was scheduled to be held from June 25 to 27. The reason for postponing the exam is said to be lack of resources.

NTA has been under suspicion since its inception

NTA was established in 2018, but every year since its inception there have been allegations of examination irregularities and rigging. In 2019, students faced problems due to technical glitches for the JEE Main exam. Apart from this, students also complained about the late arrival of question papers in some places. Serious questions were raised on NTA in the NEET entrance exam held in 2020. Due to this many times the exams had to be postponed. There were many complaints of irregularities in this exam.

There were complaints of irregularities in the NEET exam this year as well. Along with this, there is excitement all over the country regarding the NEET exam. Students are upset about Grace Marks. At the same time, a type of paper explosion came to light in Bihar. Therefore, the credibility and transparency of NTA has been questioned.

The 'NET' exam held on June 18 has also been cancelled. The decision has been taken after the UGC received information about the paper leak from the Home Ministry. Thus in 6 years of establishment of NTA only twice in 2018 and 2023 there have been complaints of paper tearing and irregularities, otherwise almost every year since the establishment of NTA the examination has been surrounded by questions.
