Bollywood's veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt is celebrating his 76th birthday today. He made many hit films like Aashiqui, Saraansh and Sadak in his career. Mahesh Bhatt's personal life has also been quite famous. He has given a special interview to Dainik Bhaskar on his birthday. In this, he spoke a lot about his personal life.

Bhatt told that he is starting a podcast in which he will talk to people who are addicted to one thing or the other in their life. This podcast is being produced by Imran Zahid.

Question- Bhatt sahab, first of all many many happy wishes for your birthday. You are starting a podcast. Tell us something about it? Answer- I do not give much importance to the practice of celebrating birthdays. It may be a matter of joy for others, but not for me. As for your question, I am starting a podcast named 'Maine Dil Se Kaha'. We all are struggling with some darkness in our personal life. I too have gone through many addictions including alcohol. Let me tell you that addiction can be of anything. I have not drunk even a drop of alcohol for 38 years. We have gone through that path, so we can understand that thing.

Question- What kind of guests will be included in the podcast? Answer- People who speak openly and understand about their lives will be invited to this show. It is not necessary that they are from the entertainment, sports or corporate world. They can be from any field.

Question- You did not touch alcohol for 38 years. By the way, how did you get this habit and how did you quit it suddenly? Answer- Often, only a failed person drinks alcohol. Initially, he drinks cheap brands of alcohol. When he becomes successful, he starts buying expensive brands. There is a story behind how I got rid of my alcohol addiction. My younger daughter Shaheen was born. I was very happy at the time of her birth. I was drinking continuously for two days. One day, when I took her in my lap, she turned her face away. At that time, I felt that nature was saying that I should give up this poison now. Since that day, I have not drunk even a drop of alcohol.

Question- You changed the lines on your hand with hard work and wrote your own destiny, but when you look back, what things do you remember? Answer- Some strangers came and gave me a lot. I learned a lot from them. They gave me the means to move forward. The rest is a matter of luck, I had the passion to do something, due to which I reached here.

Question- I often talk to many actors. They say that every actor should work with Bhatt sahab once, what magic do you do? Answer- There is nothing like that. I just build relationships. It is not about acting, it is about life. Art is born from life. Imitate life and represent it according to its colour.

Question- You have launched many great talents in the industry. Anupam Kher is also one of them. He often talks about giving you Guru Dakshina.

answer- It is my right to take Guru Dakshina from him. The more peace I get while giving Guru Dakshina to him, the more peace I get while taking Guru Dakshina. When the disciple becomes successful, then I feel very happy. Anupam has worked in about 500 films. He has produced and directed a very beautiful short film 'I Went Shopping for Robert De Niro'. The young man of Saransh has turned 69 today. If you look at his character BV Pradhan in Saransh, then it seems that the soul and spirit of the character has entered him. Anupam is an example. There are many others too.

Question- Many directors have learnt from you, who is your favourite student like Arjun? Answer- Everyone has something special about them. There are many people like Mohit Suri, Vikram Bhatt, Pooja, Anurag Basu. It is very difficult to say who is our favourite. Sooraj Barjatya was also our assistant. All of them have become successful because of their talent, I was just a medium.

Question- Have you ever faced a situation like Dronacharya in your career where you had to ignore someone for your favourite student? Answer- This would never have happened intentionally. If it did, I apologize. The person who wanted to be close to me, might not have been able to. The loss is mine because I could not see him or did not want to see him.

Question- You have made many amazing films like Arth, Zakham. What is your thinking behind this? Will that kind of cinema be made today? Answer- It is being made and will be made. See, today there is a huge craze for electronic music. Today's young generation dances. They understand it, they think about it in a different way. The thing that reaches the soul will always remain. Changes will keep happening, but the film will work. If we talk about Arth, Zakhm and Saraansh even after so many years, then it is because there is the truth of life in it. The only good work is that which crosses the desert of time.

Question- What is cinema for you? Answer- My mother used to say that I should earn money and come back, otherwise I should not. When I went out to earn money, I had to face struggle. During this time, I developed an understanding of cinema. I had a talent for storytelling, which came in handy later. We made some films in our life, which were influenced by our personal lives.

Question- You have had a very beautiful journey, what has been the most beautiful philosophy of life? Answer- That is, live life on your own terms. Do not impose your thinking on anyone and do not follow anyone's thinking. Stay within the limits of the rules of society and follow its rules, just like you follow the rules of traffic signals. Always remember that whatever is born gets destroyed. This is the beautiful philosophy of life.
