Maharashtra and the upcoming elections in the Union Cabinet

New Delhi-

The Lok Sabha election results were declared on June 4. The NDA once again won a majority and formed the government for the third time in a row on June 9 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Everyone was curious about who will get the minister post in this government. Because for the first time after 2014 and 2019, BJP as a party was far from the majority. This time, not only the BJP got the majority but also the NDA along with its allies. Therefore, it is important to know how the BJP satisfies its allies. At the same time, how many ministerial positions are given to a major state like Maharashtra, which has elections in 6 months, and which accounts are given to everyone. Finally, it was successful and 6 ministers from the state took oath.

In Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet, among the six ministers in the state, Nitin Gadkari, MP from Nagpur in Vidarbha and Piyush Goyal, MP from North Mumbai from Mumbai division, have been appointed cabinet ministers, while Prataprao Jadhav, MP from Buldhana in West Vidarbha, has been appointed Minister of State with independent charge and Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athavale, MP from Raver in North Maharashtra, Raksha Khadse from Pune in West Maharashtra. MP Muralidhar Mohol took oath as Minister of State. It shows that BJP has tried to balance regional, social and constituent parties. However, Marathwada has no place in the Union Cabinet at present. The issue of Maratha reservation became prominent in the Lok Sabha elections, the impact of which was particularly visible in Marathwada. BJP has to think about this too.

In the state of Maharashtra, the assembly elections are due in the next six months. In this, 6 ministers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet will play an important role along with the chief leaders of the Mahayutti in the state. Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP suffered a crushing defeat in Vidarbha except for a few seats. Even in Mumbai, BJP could not perform as desired. BJP has only two Lok Sabha MPs in Western Maharashtra. Therefore, these ministers have to do the work of reaching out to various parts of the state through the state government along with the central government, work at speed and build up the party for the assembly. Hence, the ministerial position allotted to Maharashtra is a step towards preparation for the Assembly.

However, the NCP Ajit Pawar group is not included in Prime Minister Modi's cabinet. Praful Patel is a senior leader, a former cabinet minister so he rejected the post of Minister of State with independent charge offered by the BJP. So will the Ajit Pawar group get the post of Union Cabinet Minister before the Assembly? This is going to be important to watch. Because this too can have repercussions in the assembly elections. But looking at the number of ministers in Prime Minister Modi's cabinet, it seems unlikely that the cabinet will be expanded so soon. But looking at all the developments, BJP has slowly started taking one step at a time in view of the assembly elections. The Union Minister posts given in Maharashtra is a part of it. After studying the good and bad things that happened in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP is trying to perform well in the assembly elections.

Some veterans are defeated, some are given a chance…

Veteran leaders like Raosaheb Danve, Kapil Patil, Bharti Pawar, who were in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cabinet last time, faced defeat. So these three leaders could not become ministers again. BJP leader Pankaja Munde also faced defeat in this election. On the other hand, Narayan Rane, the former chief minister of the state and a minister in the previous central government, has been elected to the Lok Sabha from Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, former chief minister Ashok Chavan is in the Rajya Sabha, Bhagwat Karad, who was a minister of state in the previous government, is in the Rajya Sabha. Although these leaders have not been given ministerial posts, there is a possibility that these leaders will also play an important role in the assembly elections. Because Raosaheb Danve, Ashok Chavan, Bhagwat Karad are leaders from Marathwada. In this Lok Sabha election, BJP suffered a big blow from Marathwada too. Therefore, these leaders can also be given important responsibility in the background of the Lok Sabha elections.
