Leader Online Desk: A stampede took place today (19th) at the public meeting of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. ANI reported that the activists broke the barricades and tried to come onto the platform.
Several activists and media persons were injured in the stampede
A public meeting was organized at Padila Maidan in support of Samajwadi Party candidate Amarnath Singh Maurya from Phulpur Lok Sabha Constituency. As soon as Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav reached the stage, the crowd went out of control. The crowd broke through the barricades and reached the stage. The mic wire broke. The electric wire broke. Several activists and media persons were injured in the stampede.

A large crowd of people gathered to see Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Assembly Speaker Akhilesh Yadav in a public meeting organized at Padila Maidan. At this time activists broke the barricades and entered the meeting. The activists tried to climb the platform.
Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh continued to persuade activists and supporters but could not control the crowd. Both the leaders stayed here for about 20 minutes and then left by helicopter without any speech.

Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav meeting in Mungari
From Phulpur, Rahul Gandhi and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav reached Mungari village in Karachna assembly constituency at 2 pm on Sunday. A meeting was organized here in support of 'India' Aghadi candidate Ujjwal Raman Singh. Both leaders addressed the meeting.
