He has filed 239 times to contest elections. Despite losing in every election, he has cultivated this unique hobby by spending lakhs of rupees. K Padmarajan has so far contested Lok Sabha elections against many veteran leaders from various parties. Padmarajan, a tire businessman, is popular in the area as 'Election King'. He first contested as an independent from Mettur in 1986. After this till date applications have been filed for 239 elections. Today, his name has been entered in the Guinness Book of Records for the record of being the candidate who has lost the most number of elections. Loksabha Election 2024 : I just love to lose
Explaining the reason for repeatedly contesting elections, Padmarajan said, 'I have filed 239 applications so far. I just love to lose in elections. I am competing for a world record. In one election I got maximum 6000 votes. So far I have contested against former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani, DMK chief Karunanidhi, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa, BS Yeddyurappa.
Success is experienced by all; but failure is experienced again and again…
'I don't want to win the election, I just want to lose. Success can be experienced only once, failure can be experienced again and again,' says K Padmarajan. Since 1986 till date I have collected Rs.1 crore for election nomination. I run a small puncture shop near my house. I will pay these deposits from the money earned from this work. I have contested all the elections including presidential election, corporation and ward elections. They also express their determination that I will contest the elections from now on.
