But it will take some time to take a final decision on this. The core committee meeting of Akali Dal will be held on March 22. A formal meeting will be held between the BJP and the Akali Dal after they decide. After this, the final decision on the alliance will be taken by the party leaders of BJP.” ( Lok Sabha polls 2024 )
The core committee meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) will be held in Chandigarh. Senior Akali Dal leader and party general secretary Dr Daljit Singh Cheema has also confirmed that various issues including the election front will be discussed in the meeting. All the issues are discussed in detail in the core committee meeting. He also said that the alliance with a like-minded political party will also be discussed.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Congress won 8 seats out of 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab. While BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal got two seats each. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won one seat. In 2020, the alliance between Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP ended. The Shiromani Akali Dal had announced its exit from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in opposition to the central government's Agrarian Act.
Now Shiromani Akali Dal has supported 'One Nation, One Election' and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) etc. Due to this, there will be another alliance between BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal, there is a discussion in the political circles of Punjab.
