Lok Sabha MP Education : How educated are MPs in the 18th Lok Sabha? Learn the statistics









Leader Online Desk : Lok Sabha MP Education : Not a single MP in the country's recently elected 18th Lok Sabha is illiterate. Most of the newly elected 543 MPs are highly educated. About 80 percent of MPs have at least a bachelor's degree. Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has given this information. According to reports, all 121 candidates who declared themselves illiterate in the Lok Sabha elections have lost the elections.

147 graduates in new MPs

As per the report, around 105 (19 percent) winning candidates have declared their educational qualification to be between 5th and 12th standard. 147 candidates are graduate and same number of candidates are post graduate. 28 people have studied till doctorate. 34 MPs are 10th pass and 65 MPs are 12th pass. 4 MPs have studied up to 8th standard and 2 MPs have studied upto 5th standard.

How many MPs of which party are educated?

Out of 240 BJP MPs, 64 are graduates and 69 are post graduates. 15 have earned doctorate degrees. Only one MP is 5th pass. Six Congress MPs are 10th pass, 24 graduates, 27 post graduates and 4 doctorates. No Congress MP has less than 10th standard education. Out of the 7 candidates who won as independents, 4 candidates have completed graduation.

How many different figures from the last Lok Sabha?

In the 17th Lok Sabha, the number of MPs with graduate and above education was 396. There were about 21 MPs with doctoral degrees. But in this year's Lok Sabha, only 22 percent i.e. 119 MPs have higher secondary education or less. In the last Lok Sabha, the number of such MPs was 147 (27 percent). In the 17th Lok Sabha, the number of graduate MPs was 27 per cent, it has increased to 22 per cent in the 18th Lok Sabha.

Who is the richest MP?

Among the wealthy MPs, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Dr Chandrasekhar Pemmasani has won from Guntur constituency in Andhra Pradesh. His wealth is Rs 5,705 crore. In second place is BJP's Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from Chevella constituency in Telangana, whose wealth is around Rs 4,568 crore. BJP MP from Haryana's Kurukshetra Naveen Jindal is in third place with a net worth of Rs 1,241 crore.
