Lok Sabha Elections 2024 : 'Family Welfare' in Karnataka | leader

Shivaji Shinde

The excitement of the Lok Sabha elections has started across the country. Elections will be held in two phases in Karnataka, and the application for 14 constituencies in the first phase has also started. However, a look at the list of candidates in Karnataka begs the question whether activists should remain just activists. Because out of total 28 constituencies, as many as 22 constituencies are fighting close relatives of the top leaders of the state.

In Karnataka, there is a fierce battle between the BJP-NJD alliance against the Congress. Therefore, a total of 56 candidates from both the parties are in the fray in 28 constituencies. The existence of independent and other parties is insignificant. 22 out of 56 i.e. 40 percent candidates are family members of ministers, former ministers, MPs, MLAs. If former minister Eshwarappa, V. If we include the names of some more rebel leaders like Somanna, Veena Kashappanavar, the proportion of relatives of the leaders will reach a whopping 50 percent!

The interesting thing is that it is the Congress that has nominated most of the relatives. Next comes BJP and anyone can guess about Nijd even without talking about it. In the BJP-NIJD alliance, Nijd has got three seats. Deve Gowda's family members are candidates for two seats. (See accompanying list). BJP has nominated Deve Gowda's son-in-law in a constituency. That is, three relatives of Deve Gowda are in the arena. Where else can there be such an example of family welfare politics!

Deve Gowda's son former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, grandson Prajwal Revanna from NIJD, while son-in-law Dr. C. N. Manjunath is in the fray from BJP. Nijd's existence is always limited to the Deve Gowda family by opponents, and that is why. Congress has fielded the families of ministers and former ministers in maximum number of 14 constituencies. That is, despite bearing the charge of dynasticism, they have fueled the dynasticism itself. BJP has nominated relatives of six leaders. So the accusers are not far behind. There are 14 candidates of the Congress against a total of eight candidates of the BJP-NJD alliance. As a result, Karnataka politics seems to revolve around the family.
